Michigan Home Help Program
You're already caring for them. Now let that care count.
Michigan's Home Help Program compensates family members, friends, and neighbors for the daily support they provide to a loved one at home. Care Plan Inc guides you through every step of the enrollment, so nothing falls through the cracks.
What Is the Michigan Home Help Program?
The Home Help Program is a Medicaid-funded service administered by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). It allows the people who know your loved one best to be compensated for the care they're already providing every day.
- Up to 180 hours of approved care each month, with additional hours available based on individual needs
- Covers daily living activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, meal preparation, and light housekeeping
- Open to all ages, not just seniors. Any Michigan Medicaid recipient who meets medical necessity criteria can qualify
- You choose the caregiver. Family members (except spouses), friends, or neighbors can be approved and compensated
Care Plan Inc guides families through the CHAMPS enrollment process, ensures applications are completed correctly, and helps approved caregivers start receiving payments without the stress of navigating state paperwork alone.
What the Program Covers
Family and Friend Caregiver Support
The best care often comes from the people who already know your loved one. The program allows family members, friends, and neighbors to be approved and compensated at $17.50+/hour for the support they provide.
Activities of Daily Living Support
Approved caregivers can be compensated for helping with bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and other daily tasks that help your loved one live comfortably at home.
State-Determined Care Hours
MDHHS social workers assess individual needs and determine approved monthly hours, typically up to 180. Care Plan Inc helps families understand the assessment process and ensures proper documentation.
CHAMPS Enrollment Assistance
Navigating the state enrollment system shouldn't stand between your family and the support you've earned. Care Plan Inc handles every detail of the CHAMPS application so you don't have to.
Caring for Someone at Home Shouldn't Mean Doing It Alone
Providing daily care for a loved one is one of the most meaningful things a family can do. Michigan Home Help makes sure that commitment is recognized, supported, and sustainable for the long term.
Financial Relief
Receive $17.50+/hour for the care hours you're already dedicating to your loved one, with regular and reliable payments through the state system.
Validation
What you do for your family matters. This program formally recognizes caregiving as essential, professional-level support worthy of compensation.
Sustainability
Financial support reduces burnout and helps you continue providing quality care at home for the long term, without sacrificing your own well-being.
